About The Weekend Tinkerer
Hey, I'm the guy behind this site. By day I'm a network engineer (the kind that actually knows what show interface counters does). By weekend I'm tinkering with anything with a circuit board or a motor — robot mowers, home servers, 3D printers, air fryers, you name it.
This site is where I write about what actually works from my workbench and backyard. No affiliate-bait fluff. No "10 Best Widgets" lists written by someone who's never touched one. Just honest takes from someone who buys this stuff with his own money and lives with it.
What I tinker with
- Robot mowers: Ecovacs Goat 1000 owner. Always looking at what's next.
- Home networking & servers: Synology NAS, Jellyfin, Headscale, home lab gear.
- Kitchen tech: Dreo air fryer, Ninja pressure cooker/air fryer combo, smoker, sous vide — I like cooking gadgets that actually save time.
- 3D printing: Delta printer for around-the-house fixes. Design in FreeCAD when I need to.
- Robot vacuums & smart home: Anything that does a chore so I don't have to.
Why this site exists
Because I kept finding that the "best" reviews online were written by people who unboxed a product, took pictures, and returned it. I wanted a place where the recommendations come from months of actually using the thing — including the frustrations, the workarounds, and the "wish I'd known that before buying" moments.
Affiliate disclosure
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you buy something through them, I earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. I only recommend things I've used myself or would genuinely buy. My opinions are my own — nobody pays for placement here.
